The 2014 Rich Mueller Lions Golf Camps are designed for those golfers interested in playing on the collegiate level. The ideal camper and his family have an interest in learning how to take their game and academic profile to the next level.
The Lions Golf Camp is unique because it emphasizes practice techniques; specifically, how to practice under pressure in order to prepare for the competition one faces in college golf. The program will address these goals by touching on the following four aspects:
Instruction will prepare young men for college golf by improving scoring capabilities: swing analysis, short game management, course management, on-course instruction, practice strategies and drill recommendations. Golfers will learn how to create efficient practice sessions that simulate pressure situations.
Player Improvement Discussions will cover nutrition, physical fitness and sports psychology. Discussions will teach players how to deal with stressful moments in tournaments.
College Preparation will address the recruiting process including basic NCAA Rules, written correspondence, important dates, and deadlines for standardized testing. In addition to the "Finding the Right Program" quiz and analysis, we will cover other topics like study skills, time management and stress management.
Competition - Students will participate in an 18-hole golf tournament and short-game challenge, which will help them assess strengths and weaknesses. Coaches will be interacting with players during the competition.

About Rich Mueller, PGA- Men's Golf Coach,
In 2014-15, Rich Mueller enters his 10th season as the Head Men's golf coach at Columbia University and his 15th year as a head coach. While also serving as Director of Golf, Mueller has shaped the Columbia golf program into a perennial power in the Ivy League. He has led Columbia to five Ivy League team championships (four men, one women) with three individual Ivy League champions, five NCAA postseason team appearances and 22 All-Ivy League golfers.
The Lions roared to its fourth Ivy League Championship in the last seven years in 2014, in one of the best performances at Baltusrol Golf Club. Columbia's second round score of 276 was the third-best round in program history and catapulted the Lions to first place, keeping Yale at a distance through the final round for a 12-stroke victory. Brandon Jowers and Harrison Shih captured first team All-Ivy accolades, while Tharusyan Pillay took home second team honors.
Columbia's 2014 season was full of team accomplishments. In addition to the 276 from the Ivy League Championship, Columbia shot a 274 at The Doc Gimmler and a 275 at the 2014 Desert Shootout for the three lowest rounds in program history. The Lions also won two tournaments for the first time since 2005-06, winning the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Villanova and the Ivy League Championship.
Mueller came to Columbia after spending five years as the head golf coach at New York University, where he led the program to its first two NCAA Championship appearances in 2004 and 2005. The Violets finished a best-ever 21st in 2005, after a 23rd-place finish in 2004. For his efforts, Muller was named the University Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2004 and was selected as the Northeast Region Coach of the Year in 2005 by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
Coach Mueller's student-athletes have also succeeded away from the course. Thus far he has produced 12 GCAA Academic-All Americans and seven Academic All-Ivy League student-athletes. His team has also won the GCAA's All-American Academic Team Award in 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11 that requires cumulative team GPA above a 3.2.
Recently, Rich Mueller, a Class A PGA professional, was selected by U.S Kids Golf as a Honorable Mention recipient of the 2012 Kids Golf Top 50 Kids Teachers Award, as announced by U.S. Kids Golf.
