Locker Room Guidelines

  • Secure your belongings. The Dodge Fitness Center is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Daily towel and locker service and overnight lockers can be purchased at the Membership Office. Daily use lockers (for fifty cents with no additional purchase necessary) are also available in the men's and women's locker rooms on the 4th floor.
  • Daily lockers may only be used during the time of your workout. Please make sure to empty your daily locker at the end of your work out.  Retrieval fee will apply for abandoned items.
  • Overnight lockers must be renewed or emptied by the end of each semester.  Renewal deadlines will be communicated by email, online, and fliers around the facility.  Abandoned items will be emptied and stored until the end of the following term and a retrieval fee will apply.
  • The Dodge Fitness Center provides combination-locks, key-locks and keys. Personal locks will be cut and thrown away.
  • Do not hang bathing suits or other items outside of lockers.
  • Turn off hair dryers, water faucets, and showers when finished using them to conserve water and energy.

Equipment Lending

  • The equipment room is located on the 4th floor by the running track.
  • Daily towel and locker service and overnight lockers can be purchased at the Membership Office. Members whose membership includes the use of towel and day locker may borrow keys and towels at the equipment desk.  Towels and lockers may only be used for the duration of your workout.  Please empty your day lockers and return keys and towels back to the equipment desk at the end of your workout.  Abandoned items will be emptied and retrieval fee will apply.
  • Members may borrow the following equipment at no additional cost: basketballs, soccer balls, volleyballs, medicine balls, kettle bells, stability balls, jump ropes, and light weight dumbbells.
  • ID cards will be scanned at the time of borrowing and returning equipment.
  • All equipment must be returned before leaving the gym. Unreturned items will result in penalty fee. 

Sauna Guidelines    

  • The sauna is located in the main men's and women's locker rooms on the 4th floor.
  • Please shower before entering the sauna room and sit on a clean towel in the sauna.
  • Street clothes or shoes are not allowed in the sauna.
  • Do not pour water on the sauna stones.
  • Do not adjust the sauna temperature. Please report sauna temperature issues to the Facility Operations Office (4th floor lobby).
  • Excessive exposure to sauna can be harmful to health. It is unsafe to exceed 30 minutes.
  • Sauna is not recommended for persons with certain health conditions, or during pregnancy. Consult with your doctor prior to using the sauna.
  • Please be considerate of others and refrain from bringing electronics into the sauna room.

Uris Pool Guidelines

  • Uris Pool is located on the 1st floor.
  • Fall/Spring term pool hours are: Mon.-Fri. 12-2; 7-9:30; Sat. and Sun. 1-5 and 7-9. Please check schedule changes on-line at or phone 212-854-7149.
  • Patrons must shower before using the pool.
  • Appropriate swim wear is required for using the pool including a pool cap if your hair is at shoulder length or longer.
  • Diving is prohibited during recreation hours.

Running Track

  • The running track is located on the 4th floor.
  • 10 times around the track equals 1 mile. 

Small Weight and Stretching Area

  • The stretching area is located on the 4th floor past the running track.
  • Mats must be wiped down after use.

Cardiovascular Equipment

Please observe the following policies for reserving and using the equipment, as they ensure that everyone will have access to cardiovascular equipment:

  • All cardio equipment must be reserved no more than 1 hour in advance prior to using it. Reservations on cardio equipment are limited to one 30 minute session. Please sign up for cardio equipment in person on the 4th floor by the running track.
  • Please use spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down machines after each use. 
  • No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the cardio area.
  • Patrons can claim their machine at any time during their 30 minute reservation.  

Tri-Level Fitness Area Guidelines

  • Please use spray bottles and paper towels to wipe down machines after each use.
  • Always re-rack used weights.
  • Please observe proper lifting techniques.
  • Do not slam or drop weights
  • Use of spring collars is required for free weights.
  • All DFC patrons are required to wear a full-back shirt with proper athletic shoes or sneakers in the fitness area at all times.
  • No one under the age of 16 is allowed in the tri-level fitness area.

Squash Court Guidelines

  • Squash courts are located on the 3rd floor.
  • Squash courts must be reserved in advance in person at the front desk or over the phone (212-854-7149).
  • Reservations can be made for one hour per day.
  • Courts 1-6 may only be used for squash and courts 7 & 8 may be used for squash, handball, paddleball, or racquetball.
  • While in Squash courts, please only wear athletic shoes with non-marking soles.
  • Eye guards are required for all racquet activities.
  • Please turn off the lights and leave the door open when leaving the courts.
  • Patrons can claim their court at anytime during their 1-hour reservation.

Emergency Guidelines

  • In case of injury or other emergency, please contact any Dodge Fitness Center employee.
  • First Aid Kits are in the Facilities Operations Office, the Pool Office, and the Physical Education Office.
